Refugee School Impact Program Overview

  • The Refugee School Impact program (RSI) is a program to help Modesto City School students who have one of the following seven statuses: 

  1. Refugee

  2. Asylees

  3. Cuban and Haitian entrants 

  4. Certain Amerasians from Vietnam

  5. Victims of severe forms of trafficking who receive certification Office of Refugee (ORR) and certain other specified, and other specified family members of trafficking victims

  6. Children classified as Special Immigrant Juveniles receiving services from ORR funded Unaccompanied Refugee Minor program

  7. Iraqi and Afghan children with Special Immigrant Visa status

  • The mission of RSI is to help the participants through their first five years upon arrival. The RSI program aims to help them both academically and with the transition of living in the United States.
