Modesto Virtual Academy – Online Independent Study

The Modesto Virtual Academy (MVA) is our online independent study program for students in grades TK-12. Please review the link to the right and below for information regarding the program format and other frequently asked questions (FAQ).

Students who have an interest in attending MVA who are currently eligible for Special Education and Related Services through an IEP, must have an IEP meeting to discuss a possible programmatic change PRIOR to enrollment in MVA. For additional information regarding this process, please contact your case-manager.

Similarly, students on a 504 plan who have an interest in attending MVA, must have a 504 meeting to discuss a possible programmatic change PRIOR to enrollment in the MVA. For additional information regarding this process, please contact your school’s 504 Coordinator.

How to Register for MVA

2021-2022 School Year

Starting Monday, August 30, 2021, families need to contact the MVA office to start the MVA contract process (209) 574-8192. MVA school counselors will be able to assist you with your transfer to MVA.  If you are from outside the Modesto City Schools district, please contact the Child Welfare and Attendance office at (209) 574-1595 to learn about enrolling into Modesto City Schools
