• Parent Meetings For Alternative Programs Planned


    Fremont Open Plan in Modesto taking sign-ups for school tours

    Fremont Open Plan, Modesto City Schools’ public alternative school for kindergarten through sixth grade, will hold sign-ups for school tours in January. Kindergarten enrollment is lottery-based and requires parent participation. For children to be included in the 2015-16 school year lottery, a parent or guardian must register for a tour and sign up to attend two mandatory parent meetings. Sign-ups are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays from Jan. 13 to 30 at the school office, 1220 W. Orangeburg Ave. For more information, call (209) 576-4679.


    International Baccalaureate Program Information Nights

    The Modesto High School International Baccalaureate (IB) program will host Parent Information Nights to inform prospective students and their parents about the academically rigorous IB program. The hour-long presentation answers the following questions:

    • What does the research say about the impact of the IB program on students’ experience in high school?
    • What does the research say about the IB program’s impact on college admission and enrollment?
    • What does the research say about the IB program’s impact on college preparation?

    The presentation also includes IB teachers, parents and students and covers the requirements and timeline for entrance into the IB program.

    All meetings begin at 7 p.m. in the in the Modesto High School library, 18 H Street:
