• Collaboration Days on 2014-2015 School Calendar

New for the 2014-2015 school year, Modesto City Schools’ teachers will have 15 afternoons for one-hour collaboration activities, including discussion of effective instructional strategies, curriculum planning and lesson development, data analysis and formative assessments, or items related to site goals. The 15 collaboration days mean an earlier release time, or minimum day schedule, for students.

A number of studies point to teacher collaboration as a tool to increase student success. "Rethinking Teacher Time", a report by the National Center on Time and Learning encourages policies that allow schools to allocate more time for teacher collaboration and training.

"I am excited we are able to invest in our teachers and our students with the new collaboration days," said Superintendent Pam Able. "The time dedicated for teacher collaboration will multiply our students’ success."
