Board Of Education Seeks Applicants To Fill Vacancy01/20/2016
The Modesto City Schools Board of Education is soliciting applicants to serve as an appointed member of the Board of Education until the next regularly scheduled election for governing board members, which is November 2017. The Board of Education is a legislative and judicial body and acts as the policy-forming component for school control, organization, and policy administration.
The ideal applicant would have the ability and time to fulfill the responsibilities of being a member of the board, including:
- Participating fully in the work of the board, attending all board meetings and key district events, and studying and discussing policy issues
- Committing to public education and its mission; understanding educational, social, and economic policy issues
- Engaging in balancing the needs of many diverse groups; contributing to building and maximizing consensus
- Contributing to effective board functioning and supporting the authority of the board as a whole
The Board of Trustees meets every third Monday (barring holiday or scheduling circumstances), at 6 p.m. (earlier for closed session) in the Staff Development Center at 425 Locust Street, Modesto.
Applicants must currently be, and have been since January 3, 2016, a resident and registered voter of the Modesto City Schools District.

Applications are due to the district office receptionist no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, January 27. The Board of Education will hold interviews beginning at 4 p.m. on Monday, February 1, and continue as needed February 2, making the provisional appointment no later than February 2.
