IT LogoComputer Literacy Exam

  • The Computer Literacy Requirement will expire with the Class of 2016.

  • MCS Computer Literacy Graduation Requirement

Students may enroll in and pass "Computer Literacy." It is a semester course in which a student earns 5 units of credit towards graduation. The ''Computer Literacy" course is designed for students with limited keyboarding experience and fulfills the computer literacy requirement for graduation from Modesto City Schools. *Please not that the requirement only applies to current year (15-16) Seniors, Class of 2016. All other grade levels do not need to satisfy the Computer Literacy requirement.

Students may also satisfy the requirement by passing the “Computer Literacy Challenge Exam.” A student may take the Challenge Examination at any time during their high school enrollment period. Those seniors not meeting the Computer Literacy requirement will be enrolled in a Computer Literacy class during their senior year.

Students who have taken a year-long Computer Literacy course at any of the district's junior high schools or any junior high schools feeding into the Modesto City Schools District and passed with a grade of "C" or better will also satisfy the district requirement for computer proficiency.

There are also special "advanced" computer courses offered at some sites which satisfy the district's computer proficiency requirement. Because not all of these courses are offered at all sites, the student should check with their site counselor to see which course(s) might apply to fulfill this requirement.
