When schools do not meet targets for improving the achievement of all students, parents are provided options, including the opportunity to send their child to another school. The No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) of 2001 gives parents of students enrolled in Title I schools that have been identified for school improvement, corrective action, or restructuring the opportunity to transfer their children to a public school that has been so identified. In Modesto City Schools, students enrolled at the schools listed in the attached documents below are eligible for transfer to an identified non-Program Improvement school designated by the district. 

New enrollees to the district have 10 days to submit a request for NCLB Choice.  New enrollees can request NCLB Choice through their school of residence or State and Federal Programs, District Office, at 576-4101. 

Modesto City Schools’ 2012 - 2013 students had a deadline of April 9, 2013 to request a NCLB Choice transfer for the 2013 -2014 school year.
